Why Spinning for Jesus

Several years ago I found myself feeling pretty lost.

I still believed in God. I still loved Jesus. But I was living out the picture St. Paul describes in Epistle to the Ephesians 4:14 — like a child “tossed to and fro” and carried about by every wind of doctrine. My faith had grown thin, shaped more by culture than by conviction.

In a world that spins faster every day, it’s easy to lose our center of gravity.

The idea of Spinning for Jesus—of intentionally reorienting my life by turning toward Christ—took hold of me during that time. When I surrendered to the old cliché “Let Go and Let God,” something began to change. By His grace I found myself drawing closer to Him than I had been since I was a small girl.

This space is where I write about that ongoing journey—how Scripture, life, suffering, joy, and culture can all be brought into the light of Christ.

My purpose is simple:  to bear witness to the assurance, hope, joy, and peace that grow as we deepen our relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

About Me

Hi, I’m Kim.

I’m a Catholic wife and mom of four, still learning what it means to love God with all my heart, mind, soul, and strength.

I began writing because I needed to understand my own faith more deeply. As Flannery O’Connor once said,

“I write because I don’t know what I think until I read what I say.”

Writing helps me listen—to Scripture, to the Church, and to the quiet movements of grace in ordinary life.

When I returned to the Catholic faith of my youth, I was overwhelmed by its beauty and fullness. Scripture, tradition, and the life of the Church began opening before me in ways I had never seen back then. I often found myself wondering:

How had I missed so much?

In many ways, it felt like I was learning to see the faith again with the wonder of a child.

That sense of wonder has only deepened through my work with young children in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) program at my parish. Watching the natural attentiveness with which children approach God is a constant reminder that faith is not something we master—it is something we receive.

Their quiet receptivity to Christ continues to shape the way I pray, listen, and write.

The Story Behind My Logo

I wanted a symbol that might capture the “why” behind my writing.

I settled on this: a crown of thorns with a radiant cross at its center.

The thorns represent the pain and afflictions woven through daily life—and how our Lord took the weight of our suffering upon Himself so that death would no longer have the final word.

The cross at the center reflects the mystery of the Trinity and the unbroken, eternal love of God: without beginning or end, holding all things together.

The design draws inspiration from Celtic knotwork—patterns that cannot be untied, much like the love of God that can never be severed from His people.

This is why I write:

to remind myself, day after day, of the Divine Mercy of our God—who gave us His only Son, Jesus Christ, to lead us through every trial and every turn.

Rooted in Him as our center, there is nothing in this world that can keep us from the promise of His salvation.
